The Boston Bruins Sign NCAA Star Jaxon Nelson To A Entry Level Deal
In a much-anticipated announcement, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney revealed today, April 2, that forward Jaxon Nelson has been signed to a one-year entry-level contract, with an NHL cap hit of $870,000.
Nelson's immediate assignment is with the Providence Bruins on an ATO for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Sweeney expressed excitement about the signing, emphasizing Nelson's strengths as a sizable, right-shot, two-way center and his leadership qualities as captain of a highly successful collegiate program.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, Nelson had an impressive collegiate career, serving as captain for the University of Minnesota during the 2023-24 season. He scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists, totaling a career-best 31 points in 39 games. Over his time at Minnesota from 2019-24, Nelson played in 169 games, racking up 42 goals and 47 assists for a total of 89 points.
Hailing from Magnolia, Minnesota, Nelson's hockey journey includes three seasons in the USHL with the Omaha Lancers and Sioux Falls Stampede from 2016-19, where he scored 34 goals and provided 41 assists, totaling 75 points across 164 games.
This signing marks an exciting step forward for the Bruins organization, as they welcome Nelson's talent and leadership into their fold, anticipating his impact both on and off the ice.
