In a recent update to the tragic incident involving ice hockey player Adam Johnson, new information has come to light.

Matt Petgrave, the individual taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter related to Johnson's untimely demise, has been released on bail a few hours ago. As of now, no charges have been brought against Petgrave.

The original story unfolded during a match against the Sheffield Steelers on October 28, where Johnson suffered a fatal neck injury from an accidental cut by Petgrave's skate. Despite immediate medical attention, Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital. A subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as the severe neck injury sustained during the match.

The police have not officially disclosed the identity of the arrested individual, but strong indications point towards Matt Petgrave. The suspect, apprehended on Tuesday, was released on bail under investigation, and no charges have been filed at the present time.

Detective Chief Superintendent Becs Horsfall, leading the investigation for South Yorkshire Police, emphasized the extensive efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding Adam's tragic loss. Specialized experts are aiding in the inquiry, and collaboration with the health and safety department at Sheffield City Council continues.

The shockwaves from Adam's death have reverberated through various communities, from local residents in Sheffield to hockey enthusiasts worldwide. Detective Horsfall urged the public to refrain from making comments or engaging in speculation that could impede the ongoing police investigation.
