The Winnipeg Jets have acquired defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes. Coghlan, 26, has spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes organization after being traded to them in the Max Pacioretty deal back in June of 2022. Coghlan spent the majority of the 2023-24 season in the American Hockey League with the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Dylan Coghlan had a big year in the Springfield Thunderbirds, putting up 41 points, 40 penalty minutes and was a minus-13 in 61 games. He scored 16 goals and had 25 assists during the 2023-2024 season.
The Winnipeg Jets lost two of their players this week, Brendan Dillon and Nate Schmidt, to the New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers, respectively, in free agency. This trade with the Carolina Hurricanes will help the Jets fill in the gap in their team.
The details of the trade are still not yet known, but according to Tony Androck and FriedgeHNIC, the Carolina Hurricanes are receiving a conditional 7th round pick.
