Nicholas Robertson demands trade, won't sign new contract in Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs issued a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Nick Robertson, however the young forward won't be signing it and has requested a trade.

Toronto General Manager Brad Treliving had a busy weekend, he re-signed Max Domi to a team friendly four-year, deal and traded for the rights to veteran Chris Tanev from the Dallas Stars and completed the NHL Draft.

It appears Treliving has more work ahead as Insider Chris Johnston reports that former second round pick Nick Robertson of has informed the team that he would like to be traded.

Sources say that RFA Nick Robertson has no plans to re-sign with the #leafs this summer and has informed the team that he would like to be traded.

Injuries have hurt the 22 year old's development. He has played just 87 games across parts of 4 seasons with the Maple Leafs. Robertson is coming off his best NHL seaon, scoring 14 goals and 27 points in 56 games, while averaging just 11:23 in ice time.

Robertson finished up his three-year entry level contract last season, where he earned $796,667.
