This season has shown that the Edmonton Oilers depend on three players to carry the team, and it appears that the team is prepared to give Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard large salary increases on their next contracts, allocating a sizable portion of the salary cap to those players.
Seravalli says that the three players might earn more than $40 million in total. According to projections, McDavid will sign a new contract worth an astounding 16 million AAV, while Draisaitl will make 14 million person season and Bouchard will make 10 million. In addition, Seravalli states that he believes the salary cap would increase by roughly $100 million in two seasons. This would allow the Oilers the leeway to sign their stars to these enormous contracts when the time comes.
