Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau tragically lost their lives last week while riding their bicycles near Salem, New Jersey.

Of course, this was their hometown and they were absolutely beloved in the area. Everyone loved the two brothers and they were a staple in the community. As many already know, they were in the area to celebrate their sister Katie's wedding. It was supposed to be a joyous occasion filled with laughter, happiness, and discussions of the future. Instead, tragedy struck and the wedding was called off.
According to ESPN reporter John Buccigross, more new details are surfacing about the accident, and they are heartbreaking. In the tweet below, he reveals that the brothers were biking home from the wedding rehearsal. On the morning after they passed away, outlets mentioned the wedding rehearsal. However, we are now finding out for the first time that this is where they were allegedly coming from.
Moving forward, the NHL is going to be looking for ways to honor the brothers. Some believe the league should rename the Lady Byng trophy. Others want to see some sort of jersey retirement. Only time will tell what happens next, although we hope the league makes the right choice.
Our heart continues to go out to the Gaudreau family as they morn the loss of Johnny and Matthew. We hope they are able to find peace during this situation all while getting the help they both need and deserve.
