Filip Zadina has struggled mightily throughout his NHL career as he was unable to find success with the Detroit Red Wings nor the San Jose Sharks.

This offseason, there were all sorts of rumors about Zadina and what he would be able to do next. In fact, last week we reported that he signed a contract with the Buffalo Sabres. Although this was for a PTO, it was at least something. Now, however, Zadina has changed course completely.

Today, it was revealed that he signed a deal with HC Davos of the Swiss National League. Jan Alston, the GM of the team, revealed how excited he is to bring Zadina on board.

"Despite his young age, Filip brings a lot of experience and offensive qualities. He is still very young and has not yet reached his full potential. Filip will be one of seven foreign players in the squad. This will give the coaching staff more options to put the best team on the ice in every game."

The former sixth-overall pick played a total of 262 NHL games and only managed 41 goals and a total of 91 points. Needless to say, this fresh start could be what he needs to succeed. Whether or not he ever gets back to the NHL, remains to be seen.
