With only days before the regular season begins, the Anaheim Ducks have announced they've finally signed their star young player, Trevor Zegras, who has missed the entirety of training camp up until this point.
Zegras agreed to a contract extension for the next three seasons, with an annual salary of $5.75M.
With previous reporting on these contract negotiations, the final contract details seem like a compromise. Zegras wanted to be paid handsomely on a long-term deal, while the Ducks were believed to favour a bridge deal.
The Ducks still have another restricted free agent absent from camp while he holds out for a new contract in Jamie Drysdale. With Zegras now signed, the Ducks efforts will likely focus on his extension. https://x.com/domluszczyszyn/status/1708898963036708954?s=20
At 22 years old, Zegras has played 180 career NHL games, scoring 49 goals and 139 points. With Anaheim hopefully coming out of a rebuild, Zegras will be one of the most important pieces of the franchise moving forward.
