Washington Capitals Nick Jensen Left Unconscious After Brutal Hit
A chilling moment unfolded during the first period of tonight's NHL clash between the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Capital One Arena.
Capitals defenseman Nick Jensen was left unconscious after a brutal hit into the boards by the Lightning's Michael Eyssimont.
Eyssimont checked Jensen into the boards at a dangerous angle, causing Jensen to fall in a way that left onlookers gasping. The back of Jensen's head struck the boards with a horrific thud, visibly knocking him out on impact.
Medical staff were quick to respond, rushing onto the ice to attend to Jensen. After stabilizing him, they carefully moved him onto a stretcher and off the ice for further medical evaluation. Given the circumstances, officials decided to halt the period prematurely, with the remaining 1:31 to be played at the start of the second period.
Truly hope Jensen is ok and makes a quick recovery.
