Alex Ovechkin Officially Announces When He'll Retire From The NHL
Alex Ovechkin, widely regarded as one of the greatest goalscorers in NHL history, has shared his retirement plans with the public.
In a recent statement, Ovechkin disclosed that he intends to retire from hockey after his current contract with the Capitals comes to an end.
"Alex Ovechkin believes he will retire from hockey after he finishes out current contract with Capitals."
With his contract expiring in 2026, Ovechkin has a set timeline for his retirement. Currently, he sits just 58 goals behind Wayne Gretzky's all-time record of 894 career goals.
Barring any major injuries, Ovechkin has a realistic chance of surpassing Gretzky's record before his contract expires. However, only time will tell if he can achieve this milestone within the next few years.
