Quinn Hughes joins two NHL legends for impressive stat
Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes is having the season of his life and over the last three seasons he has had 199 assists. It was mentioned earlier today that only two other defensemen in NHL history have had 200 assists or more during the same span. Those legends are Bobby Orr and Paul Coffey.
The 24-year-old has seen his point totals increase since 2021 and after putting together a superb season last year with 76 points in 78 games considering the Canucks were in shambles, Hughes has taken his game to the next level.
As his team has rebounded and looked to be a Cup Contender, through 77 games he has scored sixteen goals with 70 assists for 86 points and is a + 38. These kinds of numbers should almost guarantee the Norris trophy for Hughes as no other defenseman is near him in terms of point total and production.
While some people feel Cale Makar could be the other threat to the Norris trophy for Hughes , it's becoming clear that Hughes is the front runner and will likely win the trophy at the end of this season.
