Toronto Maple Leafs forward Connor Dewar will undergo surgery after playing through a playoff injury against the Boston Bruins.
During yesterday's end-of-season press conference with Leafs' President of Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan, general manager Brad Treliving, and CEO Keith Pelley, it was disclosed that Dewar would require shoulder surgery.
"Connor Dewar is undergoing shoulder surgery today."
Treliving provided updates on other injuries that affected the Maple Leafs during the playoffs:
Injury updates from Brad Treliving:
Auston Matthews -- became really sick after Gm 2, suffered a hit in Gm 4 that presented "head injury" issues William Nylander -- severe migraines Joe Woll -- sprained back Bobby McMann -- MCL knee sprain Connor Dewar -- shoulder surgery
Dewar joined the Leafs in a trade with the Minnesota Wild just before the trade deadline. In exchange for the 24-year-old center, Treliving traded a 2026 fourth-round pick. Dewar contributed five points, including a goal, in 17 regular-season games and added an assist in five playoff appearances.
Dewar will become a restricted free agent on July 1st, prompting speculation about the Leafs' plans for him. While he could serve as a valuable fourth-liner, the team's decision will likely hinge on contract negotiations.
With key players like Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi also in need of attention, Treliving faces important roster decisions in the offseason.
