Crosby was close to hitting a total of 1600 points while Malkin has been looking to reach an impressive total of 500 goals. Overall, this was going to be a hard task for both players to achieve. However, they both did it. Early in the game, Crosby was able to notch an assist which was that all-important 1600th point. Meanwhile, Malkin got his 500th goal early on in the third period, with an assist from Crosby.
What made Malkin's goal so special is the fact that every single Penguins player came onto the ice to celebrate the goal. It was almost as if they won the Stanley Cup or something. However, Malkin is so respected by his peers that this kind of reaction makes a whole lot of sense.
Later in the game, the Penguins won in overtime. And who else but Malkin and Crosby connecting on that game-winning goal? It was actually Crosby who got the tally, and it was a truly incredible moment for everyone involved.
Even if the Penguins do not make the playoffs this year, Malkin and Crosby will be a whole lot of fun to watch. We can only imagine how many points Crosby is going to finish his career with. When all is said and done, he could find himself top 5 all time, which is damn impressive.
