Rookie Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers has gained notoriety in the NHL for his aggressive style of play, and today, he made headlines for all the wrong reasons by signing a picture of a Devils player he injured.

In a controversial move, Rempe signed a picture of New Jersey Devils forward Nathan Bastian, who was shown sitting on the ice in pain after a hit from Rempe. The picture surfaced on Facebook, with reports indicating that Rempe was seen laughing as he signed it, even adding the ominous remark, "MacDermid is next."

My friend saw this on Facebook today.

Rempe is a scumbag

Imagine signing a photo of a player you injured that you aren't even IN?

This incident stems from a game last month where Rempe was penalized and ejected for a high hit on Bastian.

Notably, Rempe's mention of MacDermid is significant due to their previous encounters. In their last matchup, Rempe was again ejected, this time for a hit on Jonas Seigenthaler, resulting in a four-game suspension.

Following the hit, MacDermid attempted to confront Rempe, but the rookie opted to be escorted off the ice by officials. Seigenthaler later expressed his dissatisfaction with Rempe's actions, further fueling tensions between the Rangers and the Devils.

"There's a right way to go about things and a wrong way. I lost a lot of respect for him tonight."

MacDermid was not impressed with Rempe not respecting the code.
