Rick Nash secures massive role with the Columbus Blue Jackets
Rick Nash is a legend when it comes to the Columbus Blue Jackets as he was the team's first bonafide superstar.
The fans out in Columbus love him to death, and it should come as no surprise that the franchise wants him around the city for a very long time. Today, it was announced by General Manager Don Waddell that Nash was named Director of Hockey Operations. Now, he will get to be involved with every detail that has to do with the team.
Waddell made a statement about the hiring, and you can tell that the Blue Jackets are very excited about it.
«Rick Nash is an extremely bright guy who has become an important part of our hockey operations leadership group,» said Waddell. «He is very passionate about the Columbus Blue Jackets and this community and has been a great resource for me since I arrived here in late-May. Rick made a significant impact on this organization as a player and will continue to do so in his role as director of hockey operations.»
This is an amazing role and it is coming at a time where the Blue Jackets organization is dealing with some truly sensitive matters. Having said that, it seems like Nash truly is the best man for the job and we wish him luck in this new role.
