Luke Richardson Amongst Others Share Their Opinions On Bedards Injury
During last night's game against the New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard took a hefty hit in the first period. Weaving through a couple of Devils as he crossed the blueline, Bedard collided with Brendan Smith's arm, leading to him hitting the ice while holding his face.
Bedard exited the game and did not make a return. Since the hit, there has been considerable debate on whether it was clean or dirty, with opinions pouring in. Former NHLer Aaron Ward shared his perspective:
After the game, Blackhawks Head Coach Luke Richardson offered his take on the hit, saying,
«I don't know if it was dirty. I think Connor was reaching for a puck and didn't see him. I don't think he stepped up on him. I just think he kind of stopped, and Connor ran headfirst right into him.»
Unlike some fans, Richardson seems to have no objections to the hit. While the Blackhawks on the ice needed to send a message, the Head Coach believes there's room for Bedard to learn. Hopefully, for the league's sake, Bedard won't be out for an extended period.
