Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are currently in one of the most contentious contract negotiations in modern NHL history.

Overall, Swayman is looking for eight years and about $10 million per year. However, the Bruins only seem interested in giving Swayman half of that term. Moreover, he seems to be only in the market to receive about $6 million. Eventually, both sides will have to meet in the middle. That said, it seems like they are very far apart, and no one is giving in.
According to Boston Bruins insider Dakota Spin, it would appear as though the Bruins are only down to two options with Swayman, and neither is particularly encouraging. Essentially, if a deal is not done soon, Swayman will hold out into the regular season. The other option is much more drastic and includes a trade.
Trading Swayman seems unfathomable. At the end of the day, the Bruins traded Linus Ullmark knowing they needed to sign Swayman. If they lost both of their starting-caliber netminders, then that would be absolutely disastrous. You can't help but feel for Bruins fans right now, who believe their front office is acting with to much incompetence and downright arrogance. It's going to be an interesting few weeks.
