The Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks have teamed together to finalize a trade that would eventually affect their respective teams on the eve of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The San Jose Sharks will receive the 11th overall pick in the first round tomorrow night from the Sabres, in exchange for the 14th overall pick and a 2024 second round selection (42nd overall), the team revealed on social media on Thursday.

"The Buffalo Sabres have acquired a first-round pick (14th overall, originally belonging to Pittsburgh) and a second-round pick (42nd overall, originally belonging to New Jersey) in the 2024 NHL Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a first-round pick (11th overall).

The Sabres now hold nine picks in the draft, which begins with Round 1 on Friday, June 28 at Sphere in Las Vegas. Rounds 2 through 7 will be held on Saturday, June 29." The Sabres said on their website.

The Buffalo Sabres have reportedly been open to selling the 11th overall pick for a player who can immediately improve their roster, but many had assumed that the team would look to move up into the top ten. We'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings. It is still feasible, though, that they trade the 14th overall pick for assistance at this point.
