Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand Reportedly Heading to Western Contender

The Vegas Golden Knights are reportedly interested in Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand as the trade deadline draws near.
Brad Marchand is on an expiring contract this season and it is not clear whether or not he wants to stay with the team to finish out his career.
After all, the 36-year-old only has a few years left before he will eventually retire, and the Bruins are no longer the contender they have been throughout his career.
Obviously, there should be heavy interest in the grizzled veteran from just about every contender in the league given his track record.
After all, Marchand has nearly 1000 career points, and has still been an effective scorer for the Bruins this year with 21 goals and 47 points through 61 games.
The Hockey Show host Ty Anderson has revealed that one of those teams interested in the Bruins captain is the Vegas Golden Knights, who are looking to go on another deep playoff run after last year's first-round exit.
Currently, Vegas has just under half a million dollars in cap space, which would make a trade difficult considering Marchand comes with a 6.125 million dollar cap hit.
Even with 50% retained, the Knights would have to send a contract the other way. Perhaps the club will entertain the idea of getting a third team involved to eat even more of his salary.
That being said, if they can make a deal that works for all teams involved, the Knights could catapult themselves to Stanley Cup favorites status immediately with the addition of a player of Marchand's caliber.
Furthermore, it would make sense for the Bruins to move on from the iconic forward as the team seems destined to enter a rebuild in the coming years.
Either way, we should know what happens within the next 24 hours, so be sure to stay on the edge of your seat as the trade deadline will be here and gone before you know it.
