A Zamboni driver from the Outaouais region of Quebec is under fire this week after steering his machine into the boards and causing severe damage while under the influence of alcohol.

According to TVA Nouvelles, the man was eventually arrested by the public security MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais. He was subsequently booked in jail and was released with the promise that he would stay clean and then come to court at a later time. Moreover, he had his license suspended, which is probably for the best considering his infraction.

As it turns out, there is actually a video of this incident, which certainly makes things worse for the man in the clip. Below, you will see that the man was speaking to a referee who appeared to have come concerns with the way the driver was moving along. However, there is no audio so we can't really decipher anything.

From there, the ref skates away and the man on the Zamboni continues to drive towards the corner. Instead of turning to the right like he is supposed to, the driver ended up going straight into the boards. This made a loud noise and according to the report, it also caused quite a bit of damage.

While some may find it humorous, this is a disturbing story. Many arenas are populated by children and young youth hockey players. This could have been a lot worse. Luckily, no one was personally harmed.
