Higgins is now facing 20 years in prison for driving under the influence and death by auto. Following this recent event, new details have surfaced about Higgins, and they are quite disturbing.
As you can see down below, it has been revealed that Higgins was arrested for driving under the influence back in 2005. This arrest happened in South Carolina, however, nothing came of it as the cop never showed up in court. Had things gone differently, then perhaps the Gaudreau tragedy could have been avoided.
It has also been revealed that Higgins worked for an organization called Guadenzia which ironically enough, is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. He has since been removed from his post at the company. Guadenzia offered a statement on this decision, Saturday.
Our heart goes out to the Gaudreau family and the hockey community during this extremely difficult time. The Columbus Blue Jackets are officially offering grief counseling to all players who need it. We encourage anyone with the capacity to do so, to seek help if and when they need it.
