Patirk Laine was supposed to have a truly epic comeback season with the Montreal Canadiens, however, it was ruined when he had a knee-on-knee collision with Cedric Pare of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Following that collision, it was revealed that Laine had a sprained knee and would have to miss the rest of the calendar year. It was a devastating fate although one that also came with just a bit of hope. After all, Laine was being told that he could come back for the second part of the season. Sure, some rehab would be involved, but something is better than nothing.

Today, Eric Engels reported that he saw Laine walk by him without using any crutches. While he still had a big walking boot on, many felt it was encouraging to see Laine doing his thing without the help of an extra walking apparatus of some sort.

Furthermore, Laine's fiance also posted a video in which the Habs star could be seen playing with his dog. In the video, he was very clearly doing just fine. He had no crutches and really seemed to be in good spirits.

This should all be seen as great news for the Montreal Canadiens and Laine, going forward. While his situation has certainly been a tough one, the Habs can rest easy knowing that things are definitely going to be getting better. Only time will tell whether or not he can ever get back to his old form.
