The Minnesota Wild have secured a significant piece of their future by signing 21-year-old defenseman Brock Faber to an eight-year contract extension. Faber, who has already made a notable impact in the NHL, will be with the Wild until at least the 2032 season.
Faber, drafted in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, was acquired by the Wild in the Kevin Fiala trade in June 2022. Since joining Minnesota, Faber has skated in 84 games, contributing 8 goals and 39 assists for a total of 47 points.
Signing Faber to a long-term deal provides stability for the Wild as they focus on rebuilding or retooling their franchise with the goal of making a deep playoff run and ultimately contending for the Stanley Cup.
Despite his relatively short time in the NHL, Faber has demonstrated the skills and poise necessary to become a top defenseman in the league. His ability to contribute in key situations has already made him a valuable asset for the Wild.
With Faber committed to Minnesota for the foreseeable future, the Wild can continue to build around their young core and strive for success in the coming seasons.
