Sam Gagner agreed to a contract with the Oilers this season for the league-minimum, however, he's missed the last five games due to concussion-like symptoms.
However, Gagner will be returning for tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators.
This will mark his third tenure with the Edmonton Oilers, as he was drafted 6th overall in the 2007 NHL Draft. He was known for his shootout moves, and then put himself in the record books along with Wayne Gretzky, tallying eight points in one game. After this, he then dressed for the Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Gagner then returned to the Oilers in 2019 and stayed til the following year's trade deadline, where he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. He played well in Detroit, putting up 31 points.
When he wasn't brought back to Detroit, he went to Winnipeg, where he signed another league-minimum contract. He had eight goals and six assists in 48 games before having hip surgery in March, ending his season.
Hopefully, Gagner can return strong and have a good game against the Sens.
