Following the death of Johnny Gaudreau, there were all sorts of reports concerning how this affected the Columbus Blue Jackets and their salary cap compliance.

With Gaudreau off of the books, the team is under the cap floor. Overall, this means the Blue Jackets must make a move. Otherwise, they will be penalized heavily. There was speculation that Gary Bettman could give the team an exemption, however, the league has yet to make a decision on this.

Today, Don Waddell had a press conference and during the question period, he addressed the salary cap concern. As you will read, this is one of the last things on his mind right now. Instead, he would much rather just think about Gaudreau, and the grief that his players are feeling.

Our thoughts continue to be with the Gaudreau family during this very difficult time. We are also thinking about the Columbus Blue Jackets players who are also going through an extremely difficult situation.
