It has been difficult for women's hockey to establish a sustainable league. The talent is there, but growing fanbases can be tough. The WNBA is having a huge boom this year with the rise of Caitlin Clark, and it has certainly given the PWHL confidence to grow and prove that women's hockey is a viable product.
That said, some were disappointed last season as none of the team had official names or even logos. Well, that all changed this morning as the league officially announced the name and logo for all six teams. You can check them out down below.
The six teams are the Boston Fleet, the Minnesota Frost, the Victoire de Montreal, the New York Sirens, the Ottawa Charge, and the Toronto Sceptres. Overall, these are pretty unique names that you do not see all that often in other sports. The logos are also pretty cool and we're sure new jerseys will soon follow.
Only time will tell whether or not Year 2 of the PWHL can grow on the success from Year 1. Once again, the talent is there and it continues to grow. Let us hope that fans recognize this and continue to go to the games.
