Max Pacioretty has proven to be injury prone over the last couple of seasons, and with the Washington Capitals, his age certainly caught up to him.
This morning, those predictions have officially come true. Pacioretty has signed a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, it is a PTO which means he actually has to try out to make it onto the roster.
This is a low-risk play for the Maple Leafs. If Pacioretty pans out during training camp, he will provide some depth and perhaps some leadership as well. No matter what, this is one of those moves that is a bit of a no-brainer.
Throughout his NHL career, Pacioretty has played 902 games and has scored a total 330 goals and 668 points. He has the cache of a top 6 forward, although at his age, his role may be greatly reduced. No matter what, Leafs fans should be excited right now.
