Johnny Gaudreau's wife shares heartbreaking message on their wedding anniversary
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed by a drunk driver last Thursday, and since that time, the Gaudreau family has been paying homage to the two men.
Meredith Gaudreau, Johnny's wife, has shown tremendous strength throughout all of this. Overall, it is truly unfathomable what she has had to deal with. Having said that, today, Meredith is celebrating her and Johnny's three-year wedding anniversary. In a just world, the two would be celebrating together right now.
On Instagram, Meredith penned an emotional message about Johnny and how her wedding day was the best day of her life. It's hard not to get choked up reading something like this.
"I never post this much but John deserves it. 3 years ago today I became yours forever. One of the best days of my life, including the night we got engaged and the days we brought our babies into the world. The day I met you I remember saying to myself, omg I'm going to marry him. And every day after that kept getting better and better. I love you forever John and I am so proud to be your wife."
Since the passing of Gaudreau, there have been numerous tributes to the player. Tonight, Calgary and Columbus will hold a candlelight vigil. Meanwhile, some fans are calling for the Flames to retire Gaudreau's number. Only time will tell whether or not they make that big of a decision.
