Ideal Center for the Pittsburgh Penguins Becomes Available on the Trade Block
It seems like the Boston Bruins will be trading Trent Frederic per the latest reports, and he would be a great young centerman to fit in on the Penguins' roster.
GM Don Sweeney revealed the Bruins will likely be sellers
One of the key issues is that nearly every other team competing in the race has games in hand, with Boston being put in a tight spot. Addressing this, GM Don Sweeney conceded that the Bruins would likely be sellers at the NHL trade deadline.
Insider
Elliotte Friedman validated the report, reporting on '32 Thoughts' that there's been more trade talk surrounding fan favorite Trent Frederic.
"I've started hearing a bit more Trent Frederic noise, I think they are going through their options there".
- Elliotte Friedman
The Bruins are, in fact, shopping him around, and if no extension is reached, it's all but guaranteed he'll be traded. Losing Frederic would sting, but it's better than watching him walk for nothing in free agency.
One GM who needs to be paying attention? Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Frederic's resilience, two-way play, and defensive awareness are the ideal attributes for a perfect fit as a Pens' centerman.
With Pittsburgh searching to stay relevant while adding some youth to the fold, Frederic might be the perfect option for Dubas at the deadline.
