The Chicago Blackhawks stirred headlines recently when Corey Perry's contract was terminated due to an incident involving him getting drunk at a team event, violating the team's code.

Addressing the situation that led to Perry's departure, Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson opened up about the decision, emphasizing the desire to avoid future controversies.

"(On the Corey Perry incident) We handled it, and we got through it, but I'm happy it's in the past."

However, the resolution might not be finalized, as the NHLPA retains the option to appeal the team's decision. The upcoming weeks will shed light on the ultimate outcome.

Reflecting on the challenges of being a general manager in the NHL, Davidson acknowledged the complexities of the role, particularly in Chicago, where controversies have been a recurring theme.

"These jobs aren't easy. You're responsible for so many people. Whether it's that (Perry) event or something very different with Kevin (Korchinski, whose father died) and his family, you feel everything because you care about your players and your staff, and you care about their families."

"When something happens and it's positive, you feel that in a great way. When it's negative, you feel that in a really negative way. You carry a lot of the ups and downs of the group in your everyday job."

Davidson's candidness with the press provides a rare glimpse into the emotional challenges faced by a manager, and fans are likely to appreciate the transparency.
