Over the years, Simmonds proved to be a beloved teammate and was even an assistant captain with the Flyers. Recently, he got to retire with the team after they gave him a well-deserved one-day contract. Now, Simmonds is keeping his love of hockey alive thanks to his latest front-office role.
According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, Simmonds has been named the community relations ambassador and a hockey operations consultant for the Philadelphia Flyers. Moving forward, he gets to work with the team and city that he called home for many years.
This is the perfect fit for Simmonds and we know the Flyers feel the exact same way. It is not uncommon for former players to get front-office jobs with their previous employers. That said, this comes just months after his official retirement from the game.
